Winlock seeks water and sewer volunteers

The City of Winlock is looking for individuals interested in receiving free training in the field of water and wastewater management. This is a volunteer position for anyone over the age of 18 with a high school diploma or GED equivalent.

The goal of this program is to prepare the volunteer for a position in the water and wastewater field and more specifically to prepare the volunteer for the required test they must take in order to work in the field.

There are many benefits to this volunteer position. Volunteers will receive personal training in lab testing, process control, Department of Ecology permitting requirements, pump and equipment maintenance, Department of Health rules as they pertain to drinking water, report writing, maintaining and repairing leaks, and much more.

The individual chosen will be volunteering at a state-of-the-art plant that uses membrane technology. Study materials will be available for loan to further help prepare the volunteer for the state tests.

This is a great opportunity for an individual to get this level of education and experience without paying for college or having to learn on one's own. At the end of this program, the volunteer should be able to pass their group test in both water distribution and wastewater. The wages for this level of education range from $28,000 to $45,000 per year with benefits.
