Activities:
The Winlock School District is accepting donations of school supplies for their Stuff the Bus program, which will run officially Aug. 25 through 29, but donations are being accepted at the district office right now. For more info on this unique and beneficial fundraiser, call the district at (360) 785-3582.
Don’t forget the district is also offering free breakfast and lunch now through Aug. 14 to local students. Free breakfast and lunch are available to children 18 years of age and younger at the Winlock Miller Elementary School cafeteria between 8 and 8:30 a.m., and 12 and 12:30 p.m., respectively.
The Winlock Library is packed with events this week. On Wednesday, the library presents LabARTory as part of their summer reading program, which will provide summer science projects for kids of all ages. Later that day, a scavenger hunt will be taking place, where kids will search for three hidden pictures in a race for a small prize.
On Thursday, families are invited to The Music Is You from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., in which kids and adults will explore the music all around us, including instruments, games, musical stories and a chance to create your own music.
On Friday, the library presents CSI Timberland from 2 to 4 p.m. for teens, featuring forensics games and activities including your own CSI profile, brain games and a chance to peer through a microscope.
On Tuesday, July 29, the library will be hopping as all ages are invited to celebrate the birthday of Harry Potter from 5 to 7 p.m. Celebrate the birthday of “The Boy Who Lived” with games, crafts, and refreshments. Get sorted and compete against other Houses for the House Cup. Costumes are strongly encouraged. Sponsored by the Friends of the Winlock Timberland Library.
For info on these and other library events, call (360) 785-3461.
