The Olequa Senior Center will be starting up a beginner’s Pinochle class for Tuesdays at 9 a.m., starting this week. The class is free. If there’s enough interest, they may be adding more for the Tuesday crowds, so be sure to participate!
As most of you know, STP (the Seattle-to-Portland bike ride) is coming up. The senior center will be hosting a spaghetti dinner starting at 5 p.m. on Friday and a breakfast from 5:30 a.m. on Saturday to give the bikers some well-deserved sustenance.
Also, Colonial Residence is all set to serve a special lunch on Thursday, July 18, at noon. They ask that you contact the Olequa Senior Center at (360) 785-4325 to make reservations for this special event by the July 15.
Then, lastly, the center is taking the summer off from potato bars. They are to resume in September.
My nephew Jack is excited by this next one. The Winlock Timberland Library will be hosting Dig into Dinosaurs on Thursday at 2 p.m. Children are invited to discover their dinosaur names, make a dinosaur bone fossil, soar in the pteranodon races, and take a picture inside the mouth a T-Rex.
Page Turners Book Discussion is scheduled for Friday at 12:30 p.m. This month’s title is “Caleb’s Crossing” by Geraldine Brooks. At 2 p.m. that same day, the Teen Book Club will be meeting to discuss “Cinder” by Marissa Meyer. Refreshments will be provided.
Lastly, children can drop off their favorite stuffed animals at the library on Tuesday, July 16, for a prehistoric sleepover. Come back the next day to find out just what shenanigans they got into during the night. All of the preceding youth events are part of Summer reading, a Timberland Regional Library district-wide program. For more information, please contact the library at (360) 785-3461.
