Well, it’s that time of the year again, when the local farmer’s market is gearing for business! Since the weather’s been so strange—and that’s putting it mildly—they’re not sure just when they’ll start but, sometime in April, the market will resume its schedule of Wednesdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Right now, though, they are looking for vendors to register. If you’re interested in getting involved, please call Jeanie at 785-4817.
CERT classes are currently scheduled in Vader for April 12-14. The Community Emergency Response Team Program is designed to educate people about disaster preparedness for any hazards that may impact their area, as well as training them in basic disaster response skills. The classes are free to the public, as the Thurston County Emergency Management is teaching it. Toledo, Winlock, Napavine, and Vader residents are especially encouraged to attend! For more information and/or if you’d like to register for these classes, please contact Liz Hicker at 295-3882 or Sonya at 754-3360.
Don’t forget that the Olequa Senior Center will be hosting Ham Bingo on Friday. The prizes at these games will be, you guessed it, Easter hams. Their doors will open at 6 p.m., with the games following soon after. The price is 25 cents per card, per game. For more information on this or future events, please contact the center at 785-4325.
The Winlock Timberland Library will be presenting Youth PageTurners Thursday at 3:30 p.m. Schoolchildren grades 4 through 6 are invited to join in a lively book discussion. This meeting’s featured book is When You Reach Me by Rebecca Stead. There will be snacks provided as well. For more info, please contact the library at 785-3461.
That’s it for this week, folks! Someday, the sun will shine again!
