On Ash Wednesday, the Winlock United Methodist Church hosted nearly two-dozen guests from their sister branch in Castle Rock for a simple supper and service. For the next four Thursdays following this event, they will be celebrating this season with a meal of soup and bread at 6 p.m. in preparation for Easter Sunday. Anyone who wishes to join is invited.
The Olequa Senior Center now has some amazing news! They have a new site manager, Elizabeth Woodson. She just started last week, but the center’s hours have already extended back to 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., Monday through Friday. When asked how she liked her job so far, Elizabeth stated with no little enthusiasm that, “I love it, I love the people. They’re so kind.” For more information, please contact the Olequa Senior Center at 785-4325.
On Thursday at 3:30 p.m., the Winlock Timberland Library will be hosting Youth PageTurners. This month’s featured book up for discussion is “A Wrinkle in Time” by Madeleine L’Engle.
On Friday at 12:30 p.m., the adult PageTurners will be meeting to discuss this month’s title, “Fordlandia: the Rise and Fall of Henry Ford’s Forgotten Jungle City” by Greg Grandin.
The library will celebrating Dr. Seuss’s birthday Saturday, all day, with crafts, games, and birthday cake—all inspired by his books! This event is part of Family Read-Aloud, a Timberland Regional Library district-wide program.
And, finally, the library will be hosting Construction Night on Tuesday, March 5, at 6 p.m. Children of all ages are invited to build, stack, snap and construct with their friends and family. Refreshments will be provided for this and the previous event by the Friends of the Winlock Timberland Library. Please contact the library at 785-3461.
