Vern was a 1941 graduate of Willapa Valley High School. He married Barbara Bridges on April 30, 1949. They had three sons: Lee, Thom, and Fred.
His wife Barbara, his three sons, and nine grandchildren survive him.
Graveside services were held Tuesday, May 21, at the Fern Hill Cemetery in Menlo. A gathering followed services at the Barge Restaurant.
