The whole project was just started by-Hadi Partovi, founder, Code.org. He designed easy tutorials and easy code writing programs so that all students may beable to write code.
Students use all their technology devices, but many do not know the source, and yet as we move rapidly forward it is very likely people will soon be writing their own code.
Currently computer science jobs are growing twice as fast as any other field, with seven openings for every graduate. In times when many fields are cutting back this is an area to consider.
Writing code helps students build skills in logic, communication and
mathematics. They learn to consider their actions clearly before applying
since every action in code as an immediate consequences. The aim is to always have the consequence you desire; otherwise the code must change.
The language must be precise without error, for computers are unforgiving,
helping students to work on improving communication skills. And the
building of logic is fundamental to code, helping young and old to reflect
and consider what outcomes they desire and how to get there most
Anyone interested in trying to use basic code should try going to code.org
and watching the short, three minute, tutorial and then give it a try.
Most students walked away smiling with their certificate and words of
enjoyment. Even if you are not interested in creating code, the fact that
in only five months time one man reached and motivated over 10 million
people in 167 different countries is amazing.
The power of the Internet
grows stronger daily, and students need to understand what this can mean
to their lives.
