Valentine's Day for all

There are many stories about Valentine's Day and how it started, unfortunately, it did not start as the romantic holiday it is today. It was the Catholic Church that honored two men that it became known as St. Valentine's Day.

The day they celebrated both men's death, the young women in the city would put their names in a big urn for the young men. The city's bachelors would then choose a name and be paired with the young women for a year, often resulting in marriage. Thus began Valentine's Day for all of us to celebrate.

Some spouses celebrate with cards, flowers, or gifts, many of having a nice dinner out. This year, the restaurants, even though only at 25% capacity, are going to be busy so get your reservations in early, not all have the ability to take reservations due to limited seating.

There are several restaurants in the area that are offering dinner on Valentine's Day, south county will be busy for sure.

Little Crane in Vader is offering whole Dungeness crab with the fixin's, they are also offering surf and turf, sirloin steak, and half Dungeness crab. Unfortunately, they are not taking reservations.

The Crowded Kitchen is offering a four-course meal for two. They are posting the menu for all of us to see.

Spiffy's is offering prime rib, New York steak, grilled salmon and shrimp fettuccine.

Guadalajara is offering their fabulous Mexican cuisine.

Donna's Place is offering a choice of 4 different main courses on Saturday, February 13, choices are prime rib, grilled salmon, chicken or shrimp fettuccine or shrimp cocktail.

Boss Hoggs BBQ is )smoking prime rib along with some giveaways. Please call for reservations.

Flowers and gifts can be purchased at either Cedar Village IGA or Toledo Market Fresh.

Winlock Dance Center is offering a fun night on February 12. From 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. students will participate in dances, crafts and pizza will be included. $35 for the first child and $20 for each additional child after that. It's a great way to get away while the kids have fun!

Valentine's night is one for even friends to enjoy, it's an evening of enjoying one's company, regardless of your romantic relationship or not. In my single days, several girlfriends would get together and celebrate their friendship with one another. It's a day to celebrate love, spend it with someone you love.
