October is almost over, but time has not yet to run out for ordering Plush Pippen Pies from the Vader Park Board. A 12-inch pie is $6 while a 9-inch pie is $5, with multiple varieties such as apple, berry and pumpkin available to pick up as soon as you order. City Councilman Andy Wilson is still looking for photos of past mayors to help complete a wall of portraits representing the history of the city's leadership. Andy is calling on all residents who may have access to such photos to provide them for display or at least for the purpose of making a copy for the collection. Andy has emphasized how significant the contributions have been of our past mayors and is hoping the display, currently in City Hall, can help these men and women be remembered.

The Vader Assembly of God Church will be holding their monthly food giveaway on Wednesday outside the post office and all area residents are welcome to participate. Those who are not able to make it can also attend the next opening of the church's food bank on Tuesday, Nov. 11, starting at 10 a.m.

The church will also be hosting their annual Fall Family Festival this Friday from 6 to 8 p.m., and all area residents are welcome. Organized with help from the Vader Lions Club, this family-friendly event will feature free games and food, though children as asked to be accompanied by an adult.
