The end of this month will feature a public hearing regarding the City Council's current ban against medical and recreational marijuana facilities. The Vader Lions Club will soon be on the lookout for new members to help bolster their community outreach efforts. Currently inactive, due to the summer months, local Lions plan to start meeting again regularly in September, and those interested in joining may call Lois Wilson at (360) 295-3002.
If you have yet to turn in your application for free side sewer replacement, you have until Aug. 25 to take advantage of this grant opportunity. Made possible through funding acquired by the city in 2012, grants have been set aside for 80 homes to receive free replacement, but you won't be eligible unless you apply. The Vader Citizen's League will be holding another of their children's events this coming Monday from 1 to 3 p.m. at Werden Park, and again on Aug. 25. This event, featuring free crafts and activities, is open to all residents, though organizers ask that children 8 and younger be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
