Our community organizers are at it again with their annual City-Wide Yard Sale coming up Aug. 2. Made up of dozens of residents holding their own yard sales on the same day, participation is on an at-will basis, and last year’s participants took home an average of $100 apiece in sales. Sales are expected to begin at 8 a.m., and the Vader Park Board will make a showing with hotdogs for sale. To get your home marked on a map to be handed out during the event, contact organizer Judy Costello at (360) 295-3036.
If you have yet to turn in your application for free side sewer replacement, City Hall has good news: the deadline to apply has been extended one month to Aug. 25. Made possible through a grant acquired by the city in 2012, funding has been set aside for 80 homes to receive free replacement, but you won’t be eligible unless you apply. For more info, as well as details about what is needed to apply, call City Hall at (360) 295-3222.
The Vader Assembly of God will be holding their free food giveaway not this Wednesday but next Wednesday, as July 28 will be the last Wednesday of the month. This ongoing ministry takes place outside the post office, and all community members are invited to drop by for fresh produce, bread and other items. For info, call (360) 295-3756.
The Vader Citizen’s League will be holding another of their children’s events Monday, July 28, at Werden Park. This event, featuring free crafts and activities, runs from 1 to 3 p.m. and is open to all residents, though organizers ask that children 8 and younger be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
