Vader's big Fourth of July bash is just a couple weekends away. Starting at 2 p.m. on Main St., the festival will feature live entertainment, local vendors, events and parades for the family, with a large-scale fireworks display to begin at 10 p.m. This celebration is totally free to attend, so be sure to bring family and friends.
The City Council has said "yes" to adding a potential name change to the November Ballot. Local voters will now be asked to choose between Vader and Little Falls as the name of the town, so get the word out and get residents to the polls.
The council also approved the purchase of an undeveloped parcel next to Werden Park from the Vader Assembly of God Church. The field is expected to be sold for $7,000, using a grant from BNSF, with improvements planned to expand park services.
The Vader Assembly of God Church will be opening their food bank next on June 23 from 10 a.m. to noon and again on July 14 from 10 a.m. to noon. Then their next food giveaway will be July 22 10 a.m. to noon outside the post office. For more information on these and other church programs, call (360) 295-3756.
