Toledo/Winlock/Onalaska Wrestling Coach Pat Jones said one of his biggest concerns with his bevy of local wrestlers is finding them good competition.

"I beg Chehalis and Centralia to come and wrestle with us," he said. "I tell them we will take it easy on them".

It may be tongue-in-cheek, but when building a good program, good competition is part of the recipe.

The athletes found some good competition at Montesano where, as a team, they placed 5th behind perennial wrestling power Montesano as well as larger schools like R.A. Long and Hoquiam.

Winlock’s Rachel Archer took the individual championship at 113 pounds. Winlock’s Marco Bautista took second by injury default at 120 pounds. Onalaska’s Derek Fruin took second at 145 while Winlock’s Tony Raupp took home the bronze in the 126 pound class. Toledo’s Coty Jasper took fourth at 195 pounds.

Team Scoring-Montesano 212, R.A. Long 164 1/2, Hoquiam 142, Rochester 141, Winlock/Toledo/Onalaska 114, Kalama 109, Willapa Harbor 79, Port Townsend 71, North Beach 8, Taholah 0.
