The Tractor Pull during the 2019 Threshing Bee.
A long established summer favorite, the Toledo Threshing Bee, is finally making a comeback. Another event that fell victim to the COVID outbreak, this annual event has been missing since 2020. Well it's coming back this weekend, thanks to the combined efforts of some of the old guard and some new blood who all share a love for old machinery and rusty iron. Along with new members it's also at a new location. The new spot is at the metropolis of Ethel on Hwy 12 at the intersection of Tucker Rd.
Just like the Threshing Bee of old, you'll find an array of antique farm equipment and tools. Steam powered tractors, vintage tractors, hit-and-miss stationary engines, and some vintage cars and trucks. And it wouldn't be a Threshing Bee without the occasional live demonstrations of a stationary grain threshing machine powered by a big steam tractor, connected by a long belt. There will also be a live demonstration of quilt making as well as an antique drag saw in action. Other displays include antiques, well, antique just about anything you can think of. And if you get to feeling like you're missing out on the joys of owning rusty iron and old collectables there will be plenty of vendors on hand to help you fulfill your desires.
If you get hungry there will be plenty of corn on the cob as well as other food choices. There's so much to walk around and see that attendees are bound to build up a mighty thirst, and to help quench that thirst there will be a beer garden handy. Later in the day there will be an authentic tractor pull as well as live music to entertain everybody. With an admission price of only $5 a person attendees are sure to get their money's worth.
