A fundraiser will be held on June 14 at Pioneer Grocery to help raise money for young Avah Ogilvie, who has been diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia.
Three-year old Avah (daughter of Bryant Ogilvie and Brianna Verrall) was diagnosed on May 22 of this year.
The family took the child into the doctor after a month-long bout of coughing and eventual fever, the first thought was an ear infection. After checking the child's iron levels due to observations, young Avah was transferred to Mary Bridge Hospital for a second opinion.
Further tests were completed, including a blood transfusion. The medical team took samples of bone marrow and spinal fluid, and then it was determined then that the child had leukemia.
Avah is currently under steroid treatment and chemotherapy; taking the steroids twice daily.
The family is on a single income and has another child, an 11-month old, at home. All proceeds from the fundraiser and also at the http://www.youcaring.com/avah-ogilvie-360069#.VWYsC2_bi8K.facebook website, will go to Avah's family to help out with expenses such as travel, time loss from work and childcare for when Bryant and Brianna are away with Avah.
Avah and her family have a long battle ahead of them, so all donations big or small are very much appreciated.
