We are a community of loggers, farmers, and fishermen. It is both the lifeblood of our economy and central to our community's identity. As such we need someone in the Prosecutor's Office who will protect working natural resource lands while at the same time protecting our environment. Mark McClain is that person. As a County Commissioner, Mark protected working recourse lands while preserving the natural environment by drafting legislation which allowed for working farms and ranches to remain viable while at the same time preserving open spaces.
As someone who makes his living in the logging industry, I have seen how these decisions impact our way of life for decades and why I know we need the kind of leadership Mark brings to the table. Some letters have hinted that Mark may not have the leadership necessary because he has had past financial difficulties. Like any informed voter, I looked into this and found out that those happened when he was 18 years old following a two-week emergency room stay and, like many, after a divorce more than a decade ago.
Looking at his performance shows that as a County Commissioner Mark successfully managed a 70-million dollar budget, two years of which as the Chair of the Board of County Commissioners. We are all fond of saying we vote for the person and not the party and now it's time to put our vote behind that sentiment. I certainly think that is why the Teamsters endorsed Mark and it speaks volumes about job performance. The unions, the Farm Bureau, and the police, all with personal experience with both candidates, know who the right choice is; so let's join them and vote Mark McClain for our next Prosecutor.
