Raymond clobbered Naselle 48-28 last Thursday at Seagull Gym. Tristan Lund scored 13 points and Rayce Newman and Jayce Freeman netted a dozen markers apiece.
Newman and Freeman both had 5 steals and Darol Ratsavongsy pulled down 6 boards.
The Seagulls led 33-15 at halftime and coasted from there.
The Gulls improved to 5-5 overall and 3-1 in the Pacific League with the win.
“The boys are working very hard to learn the new system,” Raymond interim coach Ron Bell told the Herald. “They have done everything I have ask them to do. We are a little short handed but the younger kids are improving daily. Against Naselle, the boys played their best game to date. Against Valley, we couldn't hit our free throws and our legs gave out in the fourth quarter.”
Rainier 52, Raymond 39
A depleted Raymond squad was toppled by host Rainier 52-39 on Monday, Jan. 6. Ratsavongsy rammed home 14 points for the Seagulls, and Rayce Newman scored 9 points.
Raymond finished the game with only six players. Freeman did not suit up because of a neck injury and Lund left the game in the third quarter with an ankle injury.
Kason Koski grabbed 8 rebounds for RHS.
The Gulls were only 5 of 17 at the free throw line.
Rainier led 10-8 after one quarter, 26-19 at halftime, and 36-26 after three stops.
Raymond hosted Northwest Christian last night and entertains Ocosta Friday.
