Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night! Ho! Ho! Ho! For some people, the long days at this time of year are really hard to take. Even though Winter is officially here, the days are really getting a wee bit longer every day. Take advantage of any sunshine available (indoor lighting works, too) and take plenty of Vitamin D.
There will be a candlelight service at Ryderwood’s Community Church at 7 p.m. on Christmas Eve with refreshments to follow. It is such a lovely church and it’s all dressed up for the Season. All are invited to share.
It looks like there will be another "full house" for the Community Christmas Potluck Dinner at 1 p.m. on Christmas Day. Please sign up so they will know how many places to set. The Social Club will supply meats, mashed potatoes and gravy. Diners are encouraged to bring salads, side dishes and desserts to share. For a finer dining experience, bring your own place settings.
There will be dinner at the Café on Friday the 27th. The entrée is Hot Turkey Sandwiches served open-face with mashed potatoes, gravy, salad, side dish, beverage and dessert. The bread for the sandwiches will be the homemade white and whole-wheat breads made by Gee Cee’s Truck Stop at Exit 57.
Music this week will be "Open Mic" on Saturday at 7 p.m. in the Café and Karaoke on Monday at 6:30 p.m. – also at the Café. Come early on Monday for Burgers and/or soups.
New Year’s Eve will feature a Chili Dinner (desserts appreciated) with games in Community Hall. The festivities will commence at 6 p.m. with a variety of games to follow the Dinner.
I believe the next issue will be dated 2014 – Happy New Year!
