It’s mid-October and we’ve had enough nice weather to take care of some outdoor chores. Remember to rake your leaves to the street-side of the house for cleanup by the County.
Thanks to the Firewise crew for the cleanup done over the weekend - the chipper will be here later in the month to deal with the debris.
By the way, the chipping of limbs, branches and yard debris is now the norm for Ryderwood. “Town Burns” (always a strange name to me) are a thing of the past, eliminating a lot of smoke and odor in our little valley. Various projects (including this week’s Auxiliary Coffee Stop) and donations defer the expense, but the Town ultimately pays for the cost.
And did everybody notice how dark it was when the power was out during the stormy weather? Even if we have lanterns, flashlights and generators on hand, it is really dark outside when the streetlights aren’t working! While I’ve heard that some believe this expense is covered by Property Taxes, it is the Town who pays Cowlitz PUD more than $600 per month for this service.
So what’s happening around Town this week? Saturday evening is the Town Potluck, hosted by the Social Club. That’s at 5 p.m. in the Café. Bring your favorite dish (or not) and come out and enjoy a fine meal - there’s always plenty to share.
Friday night’s entree at the Café is Oven-Roasted Chicken and includes everything from salad, beverage to dessert. Out-of-towners are always welcome. Call Linda at (360) 295-0875 for reservations.
Karaoke follows Burgers (beef, chicken or veggie) and home-style Soup at the Café on Monday. Food is served from 4-6 p.m. with Karaoke at 6:30 p.m.
Tuesday’s Nutrition Lunch menu will be Chicken Pot Pie with broccoli spears and tossed salad. For now, call me to make reservations.
