Now that Fall and increased rains are here, it’s time to change the wardrobe to long pants, long-sleeve shirts and vests. Maybe it’s time to go shopping… How soon before we turn on the heat?
Sunday’s FireWise Expo and upcoming fall Clean-Up will fulfill Ryderwood’s official FireWise Certification for another year. FireWise is a collaborative project of the National Fire Prevention Association (NFPA) and agencies such as the USDA Forest Service, the US Department of the Interior, and the National Association of State Foresters. The goal is to reduce the risk of wildfires in rural residential areas by educating and assisting rural property owners to "Think FireWise" when maintaining their property.
There was an unexpected cancellation of Karaoke last week but Sherry assures us that she will be back on board for the next one on Oct. 7. Put it on your calendar for 6:30 p.m. at the Cafe.
Meanwhile, Acoustic Saturday Night will happen on schedule this Saturday night. That’s 7 p.m. at the Café with host Paul Van Dyck. A good time will be had by all.
Sunday evening at 6 p.m. is the next Ice Cream Social and Card Bingo. Bring your nickels, dimes and quarters (4 each) and see if you take home a few more coins than you brought. That’s in Community Hall.
This isn’t official, but I think the Senior Nutrition Lunch menu for Tuesday, Oct. 1, will be: Roast Pork with Mango Chutney, Roasted Potatoes and Tossed Salad. That sounds yummy to me!
