This is my last opportunity to remind readers of Ryderwood's 6th Annual Variety Show on Sunday, Sept. 14. The time is 3 p.m. - it's correct on the newsletter calendar but not on the front page. "Sweet Swing! will perform your 40's favorites, portraying the era-changing roles of women during the WWII years. Consider bringing your grandkids for a bit of a history lesson. Tickets are $8 in advance or $10 at the door. And don't forget your branch-of-service hat or flag! Call Barb at (360) 903-0591.
This is a busy week for the ladies in town with the Women's Club luncheon meeting at noon on Wednesday and a Red Hats gathering on Thursday at 2 p.m.
Friday's dinner menu at the Café is Loaded Baked Potatoes with Chili, Cornbread and Salad. Call Linda at (360) 295-0875 by Wednesday to make reservations. The menu for Senior Nutrition Lunch on Tuesday the 16th is Breakfast Burrito, Potatoes O'Brien, Sliced Tomatoes and Mixed Fruit. Call Jan at (360) 295-0597 by 6 p.m. on Monday to make reservations.
Saturday evening will be the next Open Mic at the Café starting at 7 p.m. It you thought we missed a week, it's because there were five Saturdays in August. "Open Mic" happens on the 2nd and 4th Saturdays.
Coming up on Sunday, Sept. 21, Ryderwood's annual FireWise Expo will be held at Pioneer Hall from 12 - 2 p.m. Members of the Fire Department will be there to answer questions. There will be a drawing for a fire extinguisher as well as some for sale. Plan to stop by for some refreshments and show your support for the program.
I don't want to be jinxed by saying this, but I haven't seen any raccoons this season! My grapes have pulled the gutter off the shed they grow on and still no sign of raccoons. It could have something to do with some trees that have been removed nearby, but some other folks agree they haven't seen any either. Like I said, I hope this doesn't jinx me - I don't miss them!
Have a great week!
