As the month of July enters its final week, yards and green spaces are looking less green and lush without additional watering. Yep, we live nine months in a rain forest and three months in a desert. And the weather has been absolutely divine! I started to talk to vendors about adding AC to our house, but haven’t needed it since those few hottest days. Think I’ll stick to fans and "musical windows" – open during cool and/or breezy times, closest during the heat of the day.
I’ve been invited on a Red Hats outing that I believe is this week. They are taking a Discovery Tour trip to Hurricane Ridge. If you want to try to join them, contact Carole at (360) 295-8307 ASAP.
Friday night’s dinner at the Café is Beef Pot Roast with all the trimmings, including ice cream for dessert. Make your reservations ASAP by calling Linda at (360) 295-0875.
This is music week at the Café with Acoustic Saturday Night at 7 p.m. on Saturday (go figure!) and Karaoke on Monday at 6:30 p.m. Both are drawing good crowds and everybody sang at the last Karaoke! Plan to join the fun. Come early on Monday for burgers and soup. Ice cream sundaes are $1.
Tuesday’s Nutrition Lunch is Turkey A’la King with fresh baked biscuits, spinach salad and raspberry bars. Call Jan at (360) 295-0597 to make or break reservations. The requested donation for those over 60 and their guests is $2.50 per meal. Otherwise, the charge is $5. The meals are not limited to Ryderwood or even Cowlitz Co. residents, so all are invited. Remember that take-outs are available and the continuance of this program directly affects the availability of frozen Meals-On-Wheels.
Good news! The Post Office weekday hours will change to 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. Aug. 19. Yeah!
