Happy Mother's Day! to all the mothers and their children out there. Have you ever tried to eat out on Mother's Day without a reservation? Don't. One year, my husband and I spent the night near Sea-Tac before an early morning flight. So we check into the motel and headed out to get something to eat, right? Forget the eat part - there was a line out the door of every eating establishment for miles around...
It's a little more than a week before the Arts & Crafts Fair on May 15 & 16. It promises to be the biggest and best one yet! It seems everyone is preparing for it. I know I am. As usual, the two large rooms of Community Hall will be full to the brim and "Grandma's Kitchen" Bake Sale will be in the kitchen of Community Hall.
Due to the increased demand for Vendor space, two things will be different at this Fair: first, the Veterans will serve lunch at the Café from 11 - 2 and second, additional Vendors and the Quilt Display will be located in Pioneer Hall. Call Norma at (360) 295-3672 for information or to assist in any way.
This Friday's Café Dinner will be Pulled Pork Sandwiches with Baked Beans and whatever suits Ronda and Meredith and their industrious crew. Dinner is served at 5 p.m. and the cost is $9. Call Linda at (360) 295-0875 by Wednesday to make reservations. All readers are invited to these dinners as well as the burgers and soup served from 4-6 p.m. on Mondays in the Ryderwood Café.
The Senior Nutrition lunch on May 12 will be Teriyaki Chicken with Fried Rice and Stir-Fry Zucchini. These meals are provided by CAP and prepared in their "Grounds for Opportunity" Café & Training Kitchen in Kelso. All diners over 60 are welcome, even if you don't live in Ryderwood or Cowlitz Co. The suggested donation is $3 per meal - take-outs and substitutions are available with advance notice. Call me at (360) 295-3813 or Jan at (360) 295-0597 to make or break reservations.
CAP, the agency that provides Senior Services in Cowlitz Co., also offers weekly home delivery of frozen Meals on Wheels; Commodities delivered to Ryderwood monthly; and "RUOK?", a daily telephone check-up service; and others. Contact CAP at (360) 425-3430 ext. 259 to access and learn more about these and other services.
