The weather for Easter weekend was glorious. Not a cloud in the sky, flowers blooming everywhere, the greenest of green fresh-mown grass. Spending more time outdoors, I’ve seen the arrival of some of our favorite nesting birds. Walk around wearing red, and you’ll get buzzed and beeped by the hummers. Meanwhile, the violet-green swallows are actively house-hunting. A "local" says that the official sign of spring is when the juncos leave – for the record, I saw one on Saturday.
This coming Saturday will be the ever-popular Town Breakfast. Get the best in eggs, ham, pancakes, biscuits & super sausage gravy with orange juice and bottomless coffee for reasonable prices.
Karaoke returns to the Café on Monday April 8th at 6:30 p.m. and every other week after that. Jot down your favorites tunes – Sherry has them all! If you don’t want to perform them, maybe someone else will. Come out celebrate the birthday of one of our favorite performers. Come early and enjoy burgers and soup.
Gardeners and plant / flower lovers might enjoy the upcoming garden events in Woodland. The Lilac Gardens are open from April 20 to May 12 while the Tulip Festival is the weekends of April 13 – 14 and 20 – 21. They could be great places to visit with the grandkids.
The Spring Garage Sales are April the 26th & 27th. The Women’s Club (@Pioneer Hall 201 Morse) will be busy all month preparing drop-off donations whenever people / cars are there. Next Wednesday’s meeting will take place at Parker’s Restaurant in Castle Rock. Call Marty at 295-0096.
There will be maps available on the Café porch during the sales. Call or email me (firstname.lastname@example.org) to get your address on the map. The quality and quantity of sale items bring folks to town from near and far.
