Steven Nowlen of Toledo, 60, had been charged with first-degree child molestation, but his case was then dropped after the Lewis County Prosecutors deemed there was not enough evidence to further their investigation of this hear-say case. Nowlen appeared in court in early June and was shocked to know this case was being investigated.
Nowlen had taken several lie detector tests and passed them all, with some scores well above average. The case was still opened, and pending further investigation when the Town Crier published our June 7th article. In that issue, all quotes and facts were presented and written correctly and unbiased.
Lewis County Chief Deputy Prosecutor Brad Meagher handled the Nowlen case with precision, and knew since this was an older case, it had to be handled carefully. Meagher dropped the case, which was officially reopened in November of 2015, after Nowlen testified in court and after he believed there was no evidence to try Nowlen further. The case was dropped and taken off of Lewis County's Pending and Active Cases file during the week of June 20th.
