New events planned for Labor Day celebration

In addition to the much loved grand parade and fireworks show, there will be some new events this year, including a BBQ cook off in conjunction with a raffle for a gas grill and a variety pack of meat. There will also be a cupcake wars type contest. Also in the works is a dump truck pull. Look for entry forms and details for all of these events in the next few weeks.

A limited number of Labor Day buttons will be available this year so stock up early, they will gain you entry and discounts at some events and businesses. This year’s t-shirts will feature the Labor Day logo of the running oysters created by Millie Clements many years ago. Pre-orders will start soon for these as well.

The annual Mother’s Day bake sale and Sindy’s famous chocolate covered strawberries will take place on Saturday, May 11^th at Pioneer Grocery from 9 a.m. until we sell out. Strawberries will be sold by pre-order with forms available at local businesses, from any committee member or by calling 942-8155.
