In addition to the much loved grand parade and fireworks show, there will be some new events this year, including a BBQ cook off in conjunction with a raffle for a gas grill and a variety pack of meat. There will also be a cupcake wars type contest. Also in the works is a dump truck pull. Look for entry forms and details for all of these events in the next few weeks.

A limited number of Labor Day buttons will be available this year so stock up early, they will gain you entry and discounts at some events and businesses. This year’s t-shirts will feature the Labor Day logo of the running oysters created by Millie Clements many years ago. Pre-orders will start soon for these as well.

The annual Mother’s Day bake sale and Sindy’s famous chocolate covered strawberries will take place on Saturday, May 11th at Pioneer Grocery from 9 a.m. until we sell out. Strawberries will be sold by pre-order with forms available at local businesses, from any committee member or by calling 942-8155.

Meetings are at 6 p.m. on the first Monday of each month at South Bend City Hall.
