The Dungeness Crab Fishery in Olympic National Park's coastal section underwent an emergency closure as of Tuesday, August 18. Levels of domoic acid have been found to exceed human health standards in Dungeness crab along the Washington coast.
The Students Need Assistance Program or (SNAP) will be distributing school supplies at the Elma Senior Center on August 26 from 9am to 11am, the Raymond Senior Center on August 27 from 9am to 11am, and the South Shore Mall on August 28 from 10am to 2pm.
There will be a United Way Campaign kickoff held at the Aberdeen Eagles at 208 West Market Street on August 29 from 6pm to 10:30 pm, admission is $10 and there is chance to win prizes and drinks are available to purchase.
There will be an Aberdeen Cash Mob at 506 Duffy Street from 11am to 12pm on August 29.
The monthly Let's Get Connected meeting will be held September 1, starting at 5:30 pm and going until 7:30 pm. The group will meet at the Grays Harbor Public Health and Social Services Department.
The Washington State Department of Natural Resources is asking for volunteers, to help with wildfires,and will review volunteering citizen's resources and direct them to where they can be most beneficial. The DNR asks that the offers be directed to the temporary coordination centers that have been established in Colville and Omak.
