A US flag flown over Kandahar Airfield, Afghanistan, over 526 En Company, 92nd Battalion spaces between March and November, 2013, has been donated to American Legion Post 71 by 1st Sgt. Raymond McFarlane, a charter member of the post.

During their last deployment to Afghanistan, the Company was adopted by Post 71 and received numerous packages of personal care items, snacks, powdered drink mixes, etc. This was the Company’s way of thanking the Post for its thoughtfulness and generosity.

New officers for 2014 were sworn in on Dec. 11 and include Commander Jim Little, 1ist Vice Commander Karol McFarlane, Adjutant Wanda Smith, 2nd Vice Commander Chris Willets, Service Officer and Finance Officer Roy McFarlane, Sgt at Arms Mark Erickson, Chaplain Lionel Pinn and Historian Karol McFarlane.

Any Veteran interested in joining the American Legion can attend a regular post meeting on any second Wednesday of the month at 7 p.m. at Napavine City Hall, or by calling Karol McFarlane at (360) 520-2686 or Jim Little at (360) 266-8084.
