John Meyers
The Napavine Police Department has a new addition to their police force, John Meyers of Winlock. Napavine has needed a third officer for quite some time and it was finally approved in the budget.
Officer Meyers said that, "Ever since I was young I wanted to serve the community role. My grandpa was in the Marines. I wanted to serve the communities I grew up in. I went to Centralia College and took the class needed. This is the career path I wanted and I wanted to be a part of a small town criminal justice system."
Officer Meyers is a 2013 graduate of Winlock High School. He comes from a family that is all about serving the community. His late grandfather, Cy Meyers, served Winlock and Lewis County in many ways. His father Sam has been a pastor/associate pastor for many years as well. Officer Meyers is following in his family's footsteps, which is not always easy.
He is excited about being an officer for Napavine, saying "The town is growing. The schools are awesome. I want to be a part of the Napavine community and raise my family there." He continued, "I am looking forward to moving to Napavine to be a part of the community. I am excited to have the opportunity to get to know the people there. I want to give back since they have given me such a great opportunity. I want the citizens of Napavine to know I am here to serve them."
Chief Chris Salyers is happy to finally have his third officer, saying "We are excited to have John as part of our team. He is a good addition and knows the importance of helping those in our community."
