I attempt to avoid out-of-county politics at all costs. However, sometimes situations arise that call for action. This is such a time. Currently, Mark McClain is employed by the Lewis County Prosecutor's Office. I recruited him while he worked for the Pacific County Prosecutor's Office. I knew of the high praises he earned from his prior employers, the Kittitas County Prosecutor, and Mr. Burke.
I have watched as Mark has exceeded my expectations handling some very tough cases. Working nights and weekends to be there for victims and law enforcement has taken a toll on Mark's time to campaign for Pacific County Prosecutor. However, on the rare occasion he has left work to campaign, he has always used his vacation time. This shows the type of honesty and integrity that Mark would bring back to Pacific County.
It is no secret that Mr. Burke and I have not seen eye to eye on some issues, but that is not what this is about. If you were the victim of a crime, who would you want to prosecute the defendant? Mr. Burke, who recommends no jail for someone that has stolen thousands of taxpayer dollars and not repaid a penny, or Mark McClain who has handled the tough cases from beginning to end and sought worthy sentences?
It is time to put aside partisan politics and vote for the clear choice for public safety. Even his opponent, Mr. Burke, described Mark as being "...in the upper echelon of trial attorneys." This is part of the reason the Teamsters and all of the Police Chiefs in Pacific County back McClain. They all agree that McClain will make Pacific County a safer place to work, live, play and raise a family.
