Lonnie J. Dowell is a political novice hoping to bring a level head and desire for cooperation to Winlock’s leadership.
A 20-year veteran of the Navy, he has cited his experience leading teams of personnel, as well as coordinating communications between submarines in the Mediterranean Sea, as examples of his ability to take charge.
He has said these experiences taught him the value of listening to both sides of an issue before making a decision, as well as the need for compromise and teamwork.
He has said it would be his desire as Mayor to see the completion of multiple public infrastructure projects, such as the repaving of sections of First St. and the extension of utility lines to the industrial zones along I-5 through cooperation with Lewis County.
He has also said it is his desire to move the city forward and to avoid the leadership conflicts that have been taking place among incumbent officials.
