The recently passed Cannabis Patient Protection Act (SSB 5052) establishes regulations for the formerly unregulated medical marijuana system and aligns it with the existing recreational system.
As a result the LCB is transitioning away from using I-502 references and moving toward a more generic "Marijuana 2015" on the LCB website and other locations.
All the archive information from previous electronic services has been transferred to Marijuana 2015 and subscribers still have access and shouldn't notice a difference. If you no longer wish to receive online messages there is an unsubscribe link available in upcoming messages. Like the listserv the LCB's website has been updated to reflect the change to Marijuana 2015. The new web page will be the clearinghouse for everything related to the implementation of SSB 5052 and how it integrates with the existing system established by I-502. Potential Government Shutdown
The Washington State Legislature has not yet approved state operating and capital budgets for the 2015-17 Biennium, which begins July 1, 2015. If the Legislature does not enact budgets by June 30, state agencies will have to implement full or partial shutdowns. While we still expect the budgets to be approved by June 30, the Liquor Control Board (LCB) has been working with the state Office of Financial Management to develop contingency plans. In the unlikely event that a shutdown is necessary, the LCB will suspend all activity July 1, 2015 (complete shutdown), until the 2015-17 budgets are enacted.
Electronic Public Records
In the event of a shutdown our Public Records will also be closed. If you have a pending request or plan on making a request soon please visit our Public Records website for additional information about how they will be handled.
