The Willapa Harbor Ministerial Association Food Bank and Coastal Harvest will be hosting a free movie night on September 19 at the Raymond Theatre.
Looking to bring additional attention to the hunger problem in the United States, data from the United States Census Bureau shows that in 2013 45.3 million people are in poverty. This number was up from 2007 numbers at 37.3 million. The poverty rate for children under 18 fell from 21.8 percent in 2012 to 19.9 percent in 2013. Children represent 23.5 percent of the total population and 32.2 percent of people in poverty.
"A Place at the Table", a 2012 documentary released in 2013, is the film concerning hunger in the United States and will be featured during the free movie night.
Food donations will be accepted at the lobby of the Raymond Theatre but are not required for admission.
