On August 24 the Pacific County Guns and Hoses Committee distributed $2,000 to local school programs for students in need. The funds were raised at the Inaugural Pacific County Guns and Hoses Tournament held last April. "We are excited to be able to support local school programs that assist underprivileged children with these funds and wanted to say a special thanks to our sponsors, in particular Colburn Timber who generously donated $1,000 to support the event, and our local public safety participants for a successful inaugural event," said Pacific County Prosecutor and committee member Mark McClain.
Planning is already underway for the 2nd annual Guns and Hoses basketball event scheduled to take place March 12, 2016 at the South Bend High School. The event will again raise funds for local students and we will be calling on our community to root on their favorite police officer or fireman. "Our local police and firemen were eager to help raise funds for the needs of school children. We were able to put together this tournament with about six weeks of planning and are hopeful to do even better in 2016," said committee member Denise Rowlett of the Pacific County Sheriff's Office.
