A stand of fresh produce among the many home-grown and hand-made items available at the Community Farmers Market in Chehalis, which opens this week.
The Community Farmers Market in Chehalis celebrated the opening of its 10th season this Tuesday. It will be open every Tuesday from 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. through the summer in its usual location in downtown Chehalis, on Boistfort St.
In celebration of their 10th birthday, many special activities are planned for opening day. KMNT will do a live radio broadcast, WSECU will be handing out recyclable grocery bags, and the market will offer a free special dessert and $10 Market token giveaways.
The market has over 20 local farmers and vendors selling fresh local organic produce, hot prepared food, fresh cut flowers, artisan cheeses, honey, eggs, roaster chickens, soaps, beauty products, and more! Food dollars spent at local farms and vendors stay in the local economy and help create more jobs at local businesses. Local food also creates community, connecting people with farmers who bring them local healthy foods.
Several themed days are planned: July 1st will be Southwest Washington Family Day with activities for kids including yoga, games, and “The One Man Band.” August 19th will be Senior Citizen Day with a mandolin quartet for entertainment.
