Emma Lou Newman, age 73, passed away on Thursday, February 21, 2013 at Willapa Harbor Hospital. She was born in Aberdeen, Wash. on March 5, 1939 to George and Ruby Bell.
She grew up in John’s River and attended Ocosta High School. She had two sisters and four brothers, including Myrtle (Bell) Bassinger (deceased), Florence (Bell) Edwards, Lester Bell, Arthur Bell, and George and Bob Bell. Emma married the late Raymond Newman December 31, 1964.
She is also survived by her four children, a daughter, Della (Newman) Chandler, and three sons, George, Darrell and Rance Newman. Emma also had eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Emma enjoyed watching her grandchildren play sports and scrapbooking.
A celebration of life will be taking place for family and friends at the American Legion in Raymond, 2 p.m. Friday, March 8.
