On behalf of the citizens of South Bend, I would like to say thank you.
Thank you, Raymond Theatre, for hanging on as a building through good times and bad from your first performance of the silent movies, The Jazz Singer in 1928, to today's performance by the anything but silent Gypsy Jazz group Pearl Django.
Thanks to countless individuals, businesses, and groups for putting their time and treasure into preserving the building.
Thanks to the Raymond taxpayers for supporting this city treasure.
Thanks to Sunday Afternoon Live for your vision and hard work to bring world class talent to our tiny area located at the outside edge of the continent.
Thanks to the performers who bring their talents to us and make this theatre a destination.
Thanks to all of the workers and volunteers you see at every performance with the common goal of making sure you have a good time.
Thanks to all of you who faithfully show up for these performances - rain or shine, classical or jazz, comedian or accordion.
Thanks for everything, Raymond Theatre. May you continue in good health for many years to come.
South Bend Councilwoman
