compliance checks in conjunction with the Enforcing Underage Drinking Laws (EUDL) grant. The 16 compliance checks took place along the Long Beach Peninsula. There were 13 locations that successfully refused to sell to the underage youth that attempted to illegally purchase alcohol. There were unfortunately three locations that did sell alcohol to the underage youth. According to Melissa Sexton, “While we are not pleased to have three sales along the Peninsula, this was the first time these three locations have been issued a violation. We plan to continue working with our retailers and offering opportunities to participate in additional training. We are very pleased with the 13 locations that did not sell to youth. They are doing a great job! We will continue doing regular compliance checks and I believe that our rate of sale to minors will steadily decline.” We want to recognize the following retailers that did not sell alcohol to our underage youth: Chinook Country Store, Ilwaco Market & Deli, Gas-N-Grub, Pioneer Market & Deli, Jack’s Country Store, Okie’s Thriftway, Surfside Mini Mart/Video, Seaview One Stop, Sid’s Supermarket, Sea Hag Bar and Grill, West Coast Spirits, Nicole’s Fishtrap, and Castaways.
