Castle Rock hosting book sale

The Friends of the Castle Rock Library will be holding their regular book sale this Friday and Saturday, and residents from all over the area are invited to come and support this vital fundraiser.

Taking place from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday, April 18, and from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, April 19, the sale will feature a number of books and movies at reasonable prices, all of which are being sold to support the ongoing activities of the Friends program. Hardcover books will be $0.50 each, paperback books will be $0.25 each, children’s books will be as low as $0.10 each, DVDs will be $0.50 each and VHS will be $0.25 each.

Fun Fest this Friday in Centralia

Centralia College will be hosting Fun Fest this Friday, a family-centered event open to the community.

Focusing on adventures in Science, this free event will take place from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Michael Smith Gym at the corner of Walnut St and Iron St. Activities will be available for children from toddlers to pre-schoolers, and include robotics demonstration, games, music, art, kid’s crafts, healthy snacks, and an obstacle course.

Chehalis church to host craft and garden fair

St. Timothy Episcopal Church, in Chehalis, will be hosting their Spring Craft and Garden Sale April 26 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Available will be expertly-grown vegetables, herbs, perennials, shrubs, trees, and unusual plants. Baked goods and pie by the slice will also be available for purchase, as well as crafts from local artisans.

Winlock Farmer’s Market starts April 23

Winlock’s 2014 Farmer’s Market will be starting April 23 and vendor space is still available.

Featuring produce from local growers, the Farmer’s Market is also a place to find gardening tips as well as crafts such as candles and soaps, all make locally. For more information, call Jeanie Emmenegger at (360) 785-4817.

Free sensitive document shredding Saturday

Lewis County residents will have the opportunity to shred and recycle sensitive documents from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. this Saturday, April 19, at the East Lewis County Transfer Station, 6745 U.S. Hwy. 12, in Morton.

Customers may bring up to 3 bags or boxes of sensitive documents they would like shredded and then recycled. At the shredding event, customers put their materials in a 95-gallon recycling container, and then the truck’s mechanical arm lifts the container into the shredding hopper. Customers can watch their materials get shredded right on the spot. After the event, the shredded paper will be recycled.
