In 1981, after concluding that they had grown far too many plants for just one yard, owners Diane and Phil Abbey opened the nursery with the intention of “providing a neat clean retail area filled with quality care for plants,” as stated by Phil. The couple renovated an old 4-room Motel, known as the Cedar Falls Motel, into their current place of business. The acreage is dotted with greenhouses containing everything from the most basic daisies to the ripest looking tomatoes to foreign plants with names that sound more like tongue twisters.
Serving customers from all over the Twin Harbors for 32 years proves serious dedication. Phil says that his passion is fueled because, “plants, like all living things need a great deal of care to perform at their peak level!”
For those lucky enough to visit on a sunny day, the nursery is breathtaking being highlighted by the rare Western Washington sun. Phil, who could blow anyone away with his vast knowledge of plants and their needs, greets those who visit any other day most warmly.
Anybody in search of the perfect plants should pay the Cedar Falls Nursery a visit. They are open seven days a week March 1st through August 31st, 10: a.m. to 5:30 p.m. With any other questions, the nursery can be reached by phone at 360-532-7450.
