Byington has been elementary principal at Chauncey Davis Elementary for the past 10 years.
“When I was told that I would move to the superintendent position, Mrs. B was my first and only thought as the next elementary principal,“ remembered Superintendent Mike Morris. “She was an outstanding classroom teacher and exhibited all of the leadership skills needed to be an outstanding administrator. She certainly has never let me down. I am very proud of her and the job that she has done for our kids and her staff over the years.”
“I would like to thank the Elementary School Principals Association of Washington for recognizing school principals and the complex work they do,” Byington said. “My leadership for the past ten years has been made possible due to the outstanding staff at Chauncey Davis Elementary and supportive parents in our community. It really does take a village to raise a child and I wouldn’t want to be any other place.”
Byington, who has been with South Bend for 18 years, will be officially recognized at the state principal’s conference in October.
