Bisbee, So, Hamilton lead Gulls to wins
By GEORGE KUNKE
Raymond won a tough non-league game at Rainier 56-49 Saturday night. Andrew Hamilton grabbed 16 boards and scored 13 points and Marvin So scored 17 points and came up with seven steals for the Seagulls.
“It was a rough and tumble game at Rainier on Saturday,” Raymond HS Head Boys’ Basketball Coach Mike Tully told the Herald. “ Both teams were very aggressive and physical. There were 29 fouls called in the first half alone, 47 for the game.
“We never trailed in the game, but we were never able to push the lead up over 10 to 12 points either,” Tully noted. “We had a hard time finishing at the hoop and couldn't hit a perimeter jumper. It was a tough environment, and I thought we did a pretty good job of controlling ourselves and doing what we had do to do to win. It definitely wasn't our prettiest game of the year.
Rayce Newman had a solid game with eight points and nine rebounds.

Raymond: So 17, Bisbee 3, Newman 8, Flemetis 2, Murdock 5, Sida 0, J. Hamilton 0, Ratsavongsy 0, A. Hamilton 13. FG - 22/58, FT - 11/23.

Raymond 83, Ocosta 51
Raymond senior Carte Bisbee banged in 18 points and freshman Elliott Murdock (career high) and Darol Ratsavongsy (6 rebs) threw in 14 apiece to send the Seagulls to an 83-51 pummeling of host Ocosta at Westport last Tuesday (Jan. 8).
After the teams were tied at 16 at the end of one quarter, the Seagulls outscored the Wildcats 54-23 in the next two panels.
“We jumped out to a quick 10-2 lead, but Ocosta was able to battle back to tie it at 16 at the end of the 1st quarter,” Coach Tully reported to the Herald. “From there we really picked up the tempo and ran away with the game. Our transition game looked good, and we were able to finish around the hoop, which is something we've struggled with this season. It was a solid team effort with numerous contributors.
Raymond shot 58 percent from the floor on 24 of 58. The Gulls committed only six turnovers.
Andrew Hamilton hauled down 10 rebounds.
