Nicholas shot a fine round nine-hole round of 38 to lead Willapa Harbor to a golf win over Wahkiakum and Adna hosted by Adna last Thursday.
Led by medalist Nicholas Betrozoff, Willapa Harbor won the golf outing with a score of 181. Wahkiakum was a distant second at 197, and Adna was third at 215.
Nicholas Betrozoff and Cameron McAllister made strong statements today at Riverside,” Willapa Harbor Tri-District Head Golf Coach told the Herald. “We played as Willapa Harbor today, as Riverside limited us to eight participants total. We did well collectively, and even Kyler (Oblad, was was disqualified) was doing well. He just did not know you could borrow a golf ball from an opponent if you ran out, so he finished out his round by keeping the score for the rest of his group.”
Willapa Harbor Boys (181): Nicholas Betrozoff (38), Cameron McAllister (43), Dylan Barrett (50), Zane Johnson (50),
Tyson Johnson (56), Kyler Oblad (DQ).
Emma Lorton hot a 55 in the girls' match and Emily Fluke carded a 57.
“For the girls, it was Emma’s turn to win bragging rights, beating Emily by 2 strokes,” Coach Lund noted. “They got the honor of starting the mach in front of the boys today and came in a full half hour ahead of the first boys group.
I am very pleased with our progress to this point and am looking forward to Monday’s home match.”
