Beekeeping class start soon

Merry Christmas from Lewis County Beekeepers' Association! Would you - or someone you know - like to get started with beekeeping in the New Year? We have a free orientation coming up on Saturday, January 16, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Centralia Timberland Library (110 S. Silver). "Getting Started in Beekeeping" will cover the benefits of beekeeping, "Bee Biology 101," equipment needed & how to set up an apiary, how to get and manage bees, and what to expect in the first year as a beekeeper, including honey harvesting. We'll have equipment on display and a PowerPoint with plenty of pictures to give you a clearer picture of what's involved.

The orientation is a preview of our full-scale beekeeping course, which runs 5 Saturdays, 9 a.m. to noon, starting January 30 at the Centralia College Cafeteria (dates are Jan 30, Feb 6, 13, 27, & Mar 5; on Feb 20, we're having a hive assembling workshop at a member's shop).
