This week the Willapa Harbor Herald starts the periodic Artist Showcase feature.
With a vast array of artists in Pacific County we like to give a little more attention to those who are expressing themselves through art and the various forms of art that is cultivated in the Willapa Harbor community.
A naturally born artistic person and self taught as an artist, Mary Bode Irwin was born and raised in Raymond. Instinctively fascinated by color, design and detail of the world around her from a very early age. With older sister's beginning guidance, she was delighted to be introduced to oil painting at the tender age of just 9 years old.
Mary's artwork style is unified with a 'feeling' of lighthearted joy and it seems to convey itself to the viewer. Regarding her work she states: "Painting is my passion, my love. I am a very joyful and positive person by nature, therefore usually find myself painting scenes with a 'feel good' composition whether through content or color choice."
Her artwork has been displayed in many Art Festivals, Galleries, and private shows throughout the west coast and Canada. Her art is owned by collectors Internationally.
Currently she paints out of her home studio doing freelance artwork and commission pieces in her hometown of Raymond while also caring for her aged mother. Her hobbies are photography and gardening.
At this time, some of Mary Irwin's work can be found at the 'Gallery on the Willapa,' 2500 Ocean Ave, Hwy 101 Raymond and also her complete portfolio is available to view on her website at: HYPERLINK "http://www.MaryIrwinArt.com" www.MaryIrwinArt.com.
