Heywood provides commissioners with librarie's strategic plan


SOUTH BEND - At last Tuesday's (Sept. 23) Pacific County Commissioner's meeting, Cheryl Heywood spoke on behalf of the Regional Timberland Library to report the new "strategic plan" for the upcoming year, including new resources, services, and programs that Timberland Libraries has to offer.

With the 2014 General Election just around the corner, those running for office vie for your attention with political groups telling us all to get out there and vote. Voter turnout in Pacific County seems to run about the same as the certainty of Death and Taxes. Meaning that when there are initiatives or ballot measures dealing with taxes or in relation to death with dignity, the voters turn out in higher numbers.

VA mobile medical unit rolls out

The Veterans Administration has announced that it will send its Puget Sound mobile medical unit to Raymond to serve Southwest Washington's rural veterans, announced via press release on Sept. 29.

NORTH BEACH - Raymond suffered their first season football loss, but it was not for lack of effort against undefeated North Beach last Friday night and Saturday afternoon at Oyehut. The Hyaks won 12-6.
