Annual show features quilts, vendors, sewing machine repair

By Viv Edersheim

Vendors this year will be Quilter’s Junction from Centralia; Cranberry Bay out of Ocean Shores; and Quilt Harbor of Aberdeen. Ken from Quilt Harbor will be available for sewing machine service and repair during the show.

This year’s event also will feature quilts by Margaret Habersetzer, a longtime member who passed away in February. Also on display is this year’s raffle quilt; tickets will be available for sale. The drawing will be held Aug. 24 at the end of the Pacific County Fair.

Show planners welcome quilts from anyone in the community. They can be entered into the show on Tuesday, July 30, at Raymond Baptist Church. Besides bed-size quilts, the group welcomes wall hangings, table runners and toppers, wearable art and other items featuring quilting. Machine- and hand-quilted items are acceptable for entry.

This is a non-judged show; no prizes are awarded, but it offers quilters an opportunity to display their handiwork. Visitors often come from all over the state as well as outside this area.

The Willapa Harbor Quilters meet each Tuesday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Raymond Baptist Church. Visitors are always welcome. For more information about the show or Willapa Harbor Quilters, stop by the church during a quilters’ meeting or contact the guild’s president, Yvonne Smith, at jerialf@yahoo.com.
