Randy and Carrie Pennington's home decorated for Christmas.
Ever spend too much time contemplating truly menial issues? Like, why does the fridge have a "d" in it while the refrigerator doesn't, or how we went from throwing tea overboard to allowing massive taxation?
Well, here is one to add to this list; why do adults always doubt the existence of Santa in Christmas movies yet are not shocked by their children's gifts that no one bought them?
It's great. The entire movie they doubt Santa's existence, yet they don't even question the brand-new bicycle parked next to the tree Christmas morning; though it's a hilarious oversight, it does make one wonder what we are overlooking as a society today. For instance, the parent that is so busy working to provide for them that they have missed their children growing up, or the individual pushing so hard to make it to the top that they've forgotten why.
In a world with so much noise and fear, perhaps we too have focused so much on staying alive that we've forgotten how to live. How is your joy today? Not the fleeting pleasures of happiness or materialism, but true unchangeable joy. Joy is not dictated by our circumstances nor situation, it has been said before that the same water that hardens the egg softens the potato; so, with that the question remains, what are we overlooking? Could there be a proverbial bicycle that we walk by without question?
You must know that the greatest gift is hiding in plain sight; not under the tree but crucified on one. Our unattainable joy is found in Christ, our Messiah, the Savior of the world. What's great is He already knows you're on the naughty list, we all are. All have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God, that is why He who knew no sin, became sin; so that we might become the righteousness of God. His grace, mercy, and love are a gift to all mankind; if you are willing to die to yourself, you can be made truly alive in Jesus Christ.
