This team consists of member from all three of our usually opposing local high schools. In spite of this fact, the camaraderie of this team was awesome. Unfortunately, and with great disappointment, especially for the team member, there had been very little coverage of the results of their hard work and dedication. The wrestling season lasts from December 1st to February 17th, but not once as a wrestler highlighted as a “Good Sport of the Week.”
Nick Betrozoff was the lone brave wrester from Valley and was a contender at State! South Bend had three wresters: Matthew Lewis, Marcos Perales, and Austin Boyes (also a state contender). Raymond had 14 wrestlers: Jenny Crow, Terry Broten, Stephen Clevenger, Travis Harvill Joseph Orkney, Chris Ping, Alan Phansisay, Sasha Crow (State Alternate), Shiloh Borden, Grant Camenzind, Josh Camenzind and George Crow (State contenders), Matthew Boyes (3rd place!), Hunter Borden (State Champ!).
Raymond’s team placed eighth in the State and first in western Washington This was the second year in a row that the team won State Academic award! This is BIG!
Wrestling id one tough “man-making” sport. It builds physical strength and strength in character. It is a sport that relies on you and you alone in competition. There are no excuses. You all have earned my respect. Great job wrestlers!
