Well, I hear Egg Days went off with a smash! Nakisha Silverstri was crown Egg Day Queen. I have been looking forward to attending Egg Day and seeing everyone to catch up but unfortunately I ended up with an emergency. Talk about being bummed.
I know the weather was not perfect but people from Winlock are tough nuts to crack. The Fire and Police Department spend days making their rigs shine so much you can see your reflection. Oh, now I have to wait another year. If you have stories you would like to share or ran in to someone you haven't seen in years, please tell me all about it!
To my readers, I apologize I was not able to attend, I even tried to talk the Dr's to cut me lose.... Break out of "hospital jail" if only for a day but the trip from Seattle to Winlock I was told! I will be calling individuals this week to see if they enjoyed Egg Day as much as I know I would.
For those who have been following a lot of the recent developments out of City Hall and would like to throw in your two cents, or just sit and watch, remember the City Council meetings are starting at 6:30 p.m. now rather than 7:15 p.m., as the council had changed the meeting time at the beginning of this year. The meetings are still the second and fourth Mondays of the month, unless otherwise noted due to federal holidays and such.
On Thursday, the Winlock Timberland Library presents Making Sense of Your Five Senses from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., for all ages. Explore the ways your five senses work both separately and together with games, activities and experiments that thrill the senses. Take-home crafts and activities keep the fun and learning going. And remember the library will be closed this Friday because of Independence Day, and will be open again on Saturday.
In just a week, on July 11-13, the 14th annual Winlock Pickers’ Festival will be taking place at Winolequa Park, and the community is invited to take part in their large-scale music event.
